Uganda – Wilson & Gurganus
Trip Dates:
June 21, 2019 - July 2, 2019
Estimated Cost: $3,200
Team Leader: Julie Wilson & Roger Gurganus
ABOUT OUR LEADERS:
I am so blessed that God is continuing to open doors in my life and allowing me to use his blessings to bless those in need; especially the orphaned children in the country of Uganda. Everyone knows there is a need in the lives of these children, but just like anything, you can’t completely understand the need unless you see, feel and witness it first hand. In 2016 when I took my first trip to Uganda I had an awakening because the need was so real and my heart was broken for these children. These children have many needs, but one thing that impacts their lives in the most amazing way is love. During that trip I know I couldn’t fulfill or meet all of their needs or change their living conditions, but I know I could show love to these children and show them that they are valuable, they are loved and they are not forgotten.
This year I am blessed to lead a new team along with a very special woman, Julie Wilson, who like me serves each day in the public school community and strives daily to impact and change lives here in the United States. But just like Julie, I know that I have been called to do more than just impact the students in my school, my district or the state of Michigan. I have been called to reach the children of the world and show them the love that God has for them by being the hands and feet of Christ. If you want to make a bigger impact on this world, I encourage you to join Julie and me on the Educational Mission Trip to Uganda this June.
ABOUT UGANDA:
Uganda is An East African country bordered by South Sudan, DRC, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Kenya, Uganda is often associated with violence, abject poverty, child soldiers, and widespread communicable diseases. According to the 2012 UNICEF in Uganda report, the country is, however, experiencing growth in development – “The under-five mortality rate is dropping steadily, families are rising above the poverty line, and the economy is growing.”
With a population over 33 million, half of Ugandan’s are under the age of 18 and 1.2 million are estimated to be orphaned by AIDS alone. Less than half of the child population is protected from malaria and Uganda continues to be ranked as one of the 30 countries in the world with the highest death rate of children under 5 years of age.
Our America World mission teams will be working to combat these statistics by visiting our orphanage and ministry partners in the country.
