Team Leader: Katlin Hogan
A note from our team leader: Hello! My name is Katlin. I have always felt a strong calling to the mission field, and specifically, to children. I feel like God has given me a passion to serve on the mission field and to show those we come in contact with that they are loved! I visited Uganda for the first time in 2015 and instantly fell in love. I am beyond thrilled to be returning in 2017 to have another chance to show and share God's love while ministering to the children and their caretakers. I hope you will prayerfully consider joining me as we take much needed nutritional supplies for a small baby home in Busia and provide support to our beloved Canaan Children’s Home in Jinja.
Uganda is An East African country bordered by South Sudan, DRC, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya, Uganda is often associated with violence, abject poverty, child soldiers, and widespread communicable diseases. According to the 2012 UNICEF in Uganda report, the country is, however, experiencing growth in development – “The under-five mortality rate is dropping steadily, families are rising above the poverty line, and the economy is growing.” With a population over 33 million, half of Ugandan’s are under the age of 18 and 1.2 million are estimated to be orphaned by AIDS alone. Less than half of the child population is protected from malaria and Uganda continues to be ranked as one of the 30 countries in the world with the highest death rate of children under 5 years of age.
STORYTELLER mission teams will be working to combat these statistics, visiting our orphanage and ministry partners in the country.
