Amanda has led numerous teams to China and began leading to Uganda last year. She is excited to go lead our second team this Fall. The team focus will be discipling the older children, serving in a baby home and creating unique VBS activities for all the children living in our partnership homes. Uganda is waiting, will you say yes to this beautiful country?
Uganda is An East African country bordered by South Sudan, DRC, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Kenya, Uganda is often associated with violence, abject poverty, child soldiers, and widespread communicable diseases. According to the 2012 UNICEF in Uganda report, the country is, however, experiencing growth in development – “The under-five mortality rate is dropping steadily, families are rising above the poverty line, and the economy is growing.” With a population over 33 million, half of Ugandan’s are under the age of 18 and 1.2 million are estimated to be orphaned by AIDS alone. Less than half of the child population is protected from malaria and Uganda continues to be ranked as one of the 30 countries in the world with the highest death rate of children under 5 years of age.
Our America World mission teams will be working to combat these statistics by visiting our orphanage and ministry partners in the country.
