UGANDA MISSION TRIP BACKGROUND:

Uganda is An East African country bordered by South Sudan, DRC, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Kenya, Uganda is often associated with violence, abject poverty, child soldiers, and widespread communicable diseases. According to the 2012 UNICEF in Uganda report, the country is, however, experiencing growth in development—“The under-five mortality rate is dropping steadily, families are rising above the poverty line, and the economy is growing.” With a population over 33 million, half of Ugandan’s are under the age of 18 and 1.2 million are estimated to be orphaned by AIDS alone. Less than half of the child population is protected from malaria and Uganda continues to be ranked as one of the 30 countries in the world with the highest death rate of children under 5 years of age.

One Orphan mission teams will be working to combat these statistics, visiting our orphanage and ministry partners in the country. Teams will prepare VBS style camps for the children and encourage the staff and local church connected to the children’s home.
