Our team lead Janet will be returning to Uganda this year right after the Christmas holiday. Her team will be visiting with some of our ministry partners in Kampala, Jinja and Busia. We are seeking ministry minded individuals to come alongside her and our friends in Uganda to do outreach and encourage our Ugandan Christian brothers and sisters in their ministry. You will have the opportunity to visit with orphans of all ages, from babies to teenagers. You’ll have the opportunity to visit widows and single parent homes. You’ll have the opportunity to love and encourage each of them.

Uganda is An East African country bordered by South Sudan, DRC, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya, Uganda is often associated with violence, abject poverty, child soldiers, and widespread communicable diseases. According to the 2012 UNICEF in Uganda report, the country is, however, experiencing growth in development – “The under-five mortality rate is dropping steadily, families are rising above the poverty line, and the economy is growing.” With a population over 33 million, half of Ugandan’s are under the age of 18 and 1.2 million are estimated to be orphaned by AIDS alone. Less than half of the child population is protected from malaria and Uganda continues to be ranked as one of the 30 countries in the world with the highest death rate of children under 5 years of age.

STORYTELLER mission teams will be working to combat these statistics, visiting our orphanage and ministry partners in the country.
