Uganda - Felty

Team Leader:  Mandy Felty

Uganda is An East African country bordered by South Sudan, DRC, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya, Uganda is often associated with violence, abject poverty, child soldiers, and widespread communicable diseases. According to the 2012 UNICEF in Uganda report, the country is, however, experiencing growth in development – “The under-five mortality rate is dropping steadily, families are rising above the poverty line, and the economy is growing.” With a population over 33 million, half of Ugandan’s are under the age of 18 and 1.2 million are estimated to be orphaned by AIDS alone. Less than half of the child population is protected from malaria and Uganda continues to be ranked as one of the 30 countries in the world with the highest death rate of children under 5 years of age.

STORYTELLER mission teams will be working to combat these statistics, visiting our orphanage and ministry partners in the country.

Mandy Felty began her journey in orphan care by joining a Storyteller team in 2014.  She had no idea when she left for China the work that God would do in her heart.  Mandy's life was forever changed from that trip and she came home hungry to learn more and more about what the Bible calls us to do specifically for the least of the least.  Since then, Mandy is passionate about raising awareness for the plight of orphans, the needs for families who are adopting or have adopted, and sharing her life changing experience by leading teams.  Mandy is married to David and they have two children, who support and share in this call.  Mandy would love for you to prayerfully consider joining her on a trip to Uganda and is eager to speak with you at any time.
