India – Cooksey

Jennie Cooksey has been an active part of America World service trips in both China and Kyrgyzstan. She will now be leading a group to serve with our partners in Aizawl, India.

The goal of the February trip is to bring activities and mentors who will help the children harness creative writing skills, develop English language skills and spend time helping the children prepare for their annual exams. Additionally, several support efforts were launched in 2018, and these efforts need advocates who will enter the story and return home to tell it.

Aizawl is the capital of the state of Mizoram in India. With a population of 293,416, it is the largest city in the state. It is also the center of administration containing all the important government offices, state assembly house, and civil secretariat. The population of Aizawl strongly reflects the different communities of the ethnic Mizo people.
