ABOUT OUR LEADER:

Hi! My name is Abby and I’m so excited that God is trusting me with the opportunity to lead a team to Ethiopia. I had the privilege to go with a team in September 2017 and a piece of my heart will always belong to Ethiopia. When I came home I had an overwhelming feeling of “now what?”, but God didn’t wait long to reveal His answer. Now I get to build a team and return with them.

I have a picture that hangs on my mirror that quotes a song and says, “God put a million doors in the world for his love to walk through. One of those doors is you.” I would love for you to join my team and find how you can allow God’s love to walk through the door of your heart into the hearts of Ethiopian orphans.

 

ETHIOPIA MISSION TRIP BACKGROUND:

With a population of over 91 million people, there is an assorted collection of food, languages, customs and people groups. Ethiopia also contains a diverse landscape, including parts of the Nile River and the Great Rift Valley. As an East African landlocked country, Ethiopia is bordered by Somalia, Kenya, Sudan, Eritrea, and Djibouti.

Ethiopia, an ancient Christian nation, has deep-rooted Ethiopian Orthodox customs and practices. The Judaic-Christian roots of Ethiopia can be found in both the Hebrew and Christian scriptures. Today, about half the population of Ethiopia is Christian.

Ethiopia is a country that is about twice the size of Texas has an estimated 4.3 million orphans. The children are primarily orphaned due to poverty, and live in both government-run and privately established orphanages. The need is great in Ethiopia. There are many, many children in need of families, however many of them will not get the opportunity to be adopted because they are not documented for international adoption.

America World partners with many orphanages in Ethiopia. It is at these orphanages that our One Orphan teams visit and work to help provide education, resources, and support for the on-going care provided by the orphanage staff.
