I was born in Southern Illinois and attended Welch College in Nashville, TN. I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Julie, and we have three amazing daughters. I have been in full time ministry since 1990 serving in churches and with non-profits. Our early years in ministry were dedicated to youth and childrens ministry. It was during this time that God began to do a work in our hearts concerning adoption. In 2004, my wife and I applied to AWAA and started the process to bring home our youngest daughter from China.
I am thrilled with the opportunity to work for America World in a role that so suits the perfect fusion of my passions, leading others and serving in the God-ordained work of James 1:27.
My name is Becki Carlson and I live and work remotely, from the suburbs of Chicago. My husband and I adopted our daughter from China in 2006 through America World, and while I was still in China, I knew that I would be back. I wasn’t sure if I would be back to adopt again or for another reason, but I knew in my heart that was not my last trip. God was breaking my heart for China, the orphans there, and the nannies that work so hard caring for them. Since our adoption trip, God has allowed me to return to China 5 more times on mission trips, both as a team member and as a team leader. Now I have the privilege of working for America World and as a Mission Trip Coordinator. I could not be more thrilled or proud to represent such an amazing organization and to be able to advocate every day for the children that desperately need the love of a family.
Erica has a BA in Education and an MA in Missiology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. After a short teaching career, she put her missions experience to work as she oversaw orphanage partnerships in Haiti and Africa. She was responsible for sponsorship programs and sending out over 30 mission teams per year. Erica joined One Orphan/America World in the Spring of 2015 and enjoys sending teams and expanding the mission to care for orphans and vulnerable children where they are.
In 2002 I graduated from Welch College with a degree in Business Administration. Shortly after finishing our studies, my husband and I were appointed to work on a two-year assignment in Madrid, Spain. In 2005 we landed in Detroit, Michigan where we assist with the missions program, both locally and globally. In 2016 I was thrilled to join the America World Adoption/One Orphan staff as an Administrative Assistant.
