Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with many people living on less than $2 per day; 80% of the population lives in poverty and 50% live in extreme poverty. It is estimated that nearly one million orphaned children live in Haiti.
America World has been serving in Haiti since 2011 working to feed, clothe, house, and spread the gospel to this impoverished nation. Our full-time Haitian staff member, Moise, oversees our partnerships in order to ensure the quality of care and services. We work directly with five orphanages, providing funding for food, care, education, and staffing. One of the orphanages is private and fully funded by our ministry.
Additionally, America World is also committed to serving children in this impoverished nation by sending teams to provide humanitarian aid to children in orphanages. These teams provide activities for children, educational and medical support while introducing the children to Jesus Christ. This commitment to care for children has proved especially important due to the difficulties presented by the current global pandemic.
