About China

China is one of the longest standing adoption programs in the world. With an estimated 60 million living in poverty, 98% of China’s abandoned children have special needs and are particularly vulnerable. All children are made in God’s image and deserve a loving family and access to clean water, medical care, nutrition, and education.

America World has been privileged to send advocacy teams containing medical specialists over the past several years. These teams are able to better assess children's needs and assist with file updates. This allows America World staff to better advocate for these children and prepare families who pursue their adoption. In addition, these teams often work on specific projects to improve the quality of life for the children in care. America World also sponsors short term projects and critical needs requested by specific orphanages in China.
