The Center for Adoption Support & Education (CASE) is holding a webinar with the following description:
When a child enters a foster or adoptive home following a history of abuse, neglect and trauma, the family will be transformed. Most often this transformation is a process that results in a favorable outcome for the family. Occasionally, the transformation is not and the issues and challenges in maintaining the child in the home feel insurmountable.
We invite you to join Jayne Schooler, renowned adoption expert, trainer and author of many books including Wounded Children Healing Homes, who will address: What does a traumatized child look like? What are the behavioral challenges most often experienced by parents? What does happen to the foster/adoptive family? This webinar tackles tough and realistic issues faced by families but not often recognized by the professionals who work with them. Participants will receive an "effects of fostering/adopting" survey that will help them identify key challenges. Strategies for self-care will be shared as well as strategies for support.
