Visscher family update: One year later

We were thrilled to catch up with the Visscher family a year after getting on a plane to bring their daughter Sophie home. Joni Vissher shared: Sometimes it is so overwhelming to just sit back and think about how God worked in all of our hearts to form our family.  We cannot imagine life without her!  Sophie is doing fantastic, she is such a joy and there are no words to describe our thankfulness that she is now home with us.  God is a good good Father!

Enjoy a few pictures and updates from Sophie’s eventful first year home:

Sophie was able to attend the SMA conference this summer that was held at Disneyworld.
She was able to meet up with several other adopted Chinese kids who also have SMA.
It was so good for her to be around others who have the same diagnosis as she does.
She loved meeting Minnie Mouse, it was one of the highlights of her summer!

Sophie was able to reunite with her friend, Quinn, who is from the same orphanage as Sophie.

Sophie was able to get a loaner power wheelchair (we are working on ordering her own).
This opened a whole new world for her and she was able to go wherever
she wanted to go for the first time in her life!
It was so amazing to see her using her newfound independence!

There are amazing, perfectly and wonderfully made children waiting for a home and family that
will help them reach their full potential. Read more about our China waiting child program today.
