Update: Houston Relief Team
On Thursday September 7th a team of seven from Oregon landed in Houston Texas. Their goal was to partner with local church Heritage Park Baptist as they ministered to the surrounding community. Countless homes in the area were flooded and contents distroyed as a result of very recent hurricane Harvey. As we shared before, Trent Henderson is the pastor of Heritage Park Baptist. Trent and his wife Ginny brought home two daughters through the America World China program. Don Atwood, the team leader, is also an America World dad who brought home their youngest son from China just months ago. This connection made the trip extra-special as we watched the network of America World families stretch from Texas to Oregon.
The team wasted no time and got to work gutting homes shortly after landing. They have seen destruction upon destruction but have worked diligently, accomplishing as much as possible to help the church and homeowners during their few days on the ground. Please continue to pray for those in the Houston area and for the team as they prepare to travel home with hearts full of stories of both disaster AND hope.
When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me,
“Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.
