Understanding Our Children’s Anger and the Calming Process
One of the things that comes up frequently in conversations with families is how to help their child understand what he or she is feeling and how to help them develop the skills to live and work with those emotions in a healthy way.
In some recent training from the Center for Adoption Support and Education, I was introduced to this short video about the anger children can feel. I was struck by not only how well it was done, but also how poignantly the children described their feelings and the process they go through as they work to manage their emotions through awareness and deep breathing.
I hope that parents and children alike can enjoy and learn from this video, “Just Breathe” by Julie Bayer Salzman & Josh Salzman, much as I did. Take less than 4 minutes and check it out.
