Trip To El Salvador

I’m writing to update families after my recent trip to El Salvador.  I know a few of the families that traveled with me have posted blogs – and I hope you’ve had an opportunity to read them.  (If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to read these, you can find some of them here.)From my perspective, the trip was successful.  I am glad I had the opportunity to follow-up on previous meetings and I’m glad that some of the waiting families were able to meet Alexis and visit an orphanage.  Unfortunately the trip did not result in concrete results regarding pending referrals or dramatic changes in the processing of Dossiers.  However, I do continue to believe that this program is going to be successful.  I feel a large burden to be personally involved with this process until referrals are offered in a consistent fashion.  I will be returning to El Salvador this Fall because I am confident that continually showing-up in-person will better enable our agency to follow up on the progress we’ve made.  Next week, you’ll be hearing from our agency about a campaign to write to the US Ambassador to El Salvador – I hope many of you will be able to take part in this.
