Stories of Hope: Advocate for Robin
November 28, 2016

The Stories of Hope continue to pour in from the One Orphan Hope Journey teams. It has been several weeks since they returned home, but the passion for advocacy has not burned out. Today a team member took a few moments to share the notes she took about Robin while spending time with her in China.

"How do you convey preciousness in a post or picture? It's impossible,
it's something that's transmitted from one heart to another."

Robin has captured all of our hearts including our guide's. I've watched her gently nurture a teddy bear and rock it like a baby. She's nurtured the other children too by making sure they have cups of water and by sharing the toys and crafts we've brought. She has a determined little spirit, trying numerous times to complete tasks that are difficult with her physical limitations. She lights up with curiosity when introduced to new activities or when given permission to explore the playground as she spends time searching for treasured leaves and rocks. What a privilege to love on such a sweet child for five days. To be the hands and feet of Christ. To hold her unique hands gently in mine when the other children shy away. To look into her eyes and let her know she is seen, adored and of the utmost value. To pray every night that God would prick a family's heart to take this little girl in and give her the opportunity to flourish and become all she was created to be.

Robin is a sweet little girl who has Aperts syndrome. She is so gentle and kind to all she meets. Despite having fusion of her fingers, she has found ways to manipulate objects and get things done! She can string beads, unbuckle, zip/unzip, color with crayons--basically anything she wanted to do, she found a way to do it! She is helpful and cleans up after she is done playing. She has a beautiful smile and a such a sweet personality.
