Season of Hope: Advocate for Felicity
The Season of Hope continues today as a recent One Orphan Storyteller team member shares about a precious girl named “Felicity”. Please help us share her story today.
If this trip could have had a theme, it would have been HOPE. It seems every time I go to China, I am reminded of Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” How do we give HOPE to orphans half way around the world? One way is to tell their story!
I would like to introduce you to a precious 13 1/2 year old gal named “Felicity”.
I had the privilege of meeting Felicity 3 years ago. Upon returning this year, I was saddened to discover she is still at the orphanage. You see, in six months, Felicity will not longer be eligible to have a forever family…she will “age out” of the system. Our team including our guide was very upset at this news.
Felicity won the hearts of all of us with her sweet and kind disposition. She is very quiet and timid when first introduced to new people, but warms up quickly. By the end of the week, she was outgoing and bubbly. One team member watched as she took care of some of the children while the nannies were working with others. While everyone was loving on the kids, giving them hugs and playing, Felicity was keeping to herself and wouldn't give any hugs. She would only walk into your arms if you held them out. It made our team member realize that she wanted to be hugged, but was unsure about what to do. Felicity loved looking at the pictures taken of her. In our group, we had a polaroid camera to take pictures of the children that they could keep. By the end of the week, we had taken about 20 pictures of her and she kept almost all of them. She loved helping our polaroid photographer go around and take pictures of the other children as well.
She has very clearly expressed a desire to be adopted. Are YOU her forever family? Please pray God will call a family quickly for our sweet Felicity!
