Saturday in the Park
Saturday in the park
I think it was the Fourth of July
Saturday in the park
I think it was the Fourth of July
People dancing, people laughing
A man selling ice cream
Singing Italian songs
Can you dig it (yes, I can)
And I've been waiting such a long time
For Saturday
Yes, we have been waiting such a long time. It had been quite a while since we had gotten together. The America World Arizona Fellowship group met on Saturday, March 26th in Encanto Park in Central Phoenix. There were 8 families represented; a total of 34 people. There was great representation from across the state since there were families from Casa Grande, Flagstaff, and several families from the Phoenix metro area.
Encanto Park is a Phoenix treasure. Located centrally amidst a golf course and well-kept early to mid 20th century homes, it features an amusement park with rides and a carousel that dates to 1948. The venue gave the families an opportunity to enjoy lunch, discuss the NCAA Tournament, and share stories of how God is working in their lives. The kids (and a few parents) then enjoyed unlimited rides. No words were necessary as the smiles told the whole story. God blessed the event with beautiful weather – sunny skies, a light breeze and temperatures in the mid to upper 70s- it couldn’t have been better.
It seemed that everyone had a great time but most importantly, it was a chance for families who share a heart for adoption to more fully understand and reflect on how we are all adopted children of a righteous and loving Father. It was awesome to see how He is working in the lives of children and parents alike – to His Glory.
