TONIGHT! Post-Adoption Blues Educational Support Group
“Overcoming Post-Adoption Blues: When Life After Your Adoption is Not What you Expected,” a 5-session educational support group, will begin meeting TONIGHT, Wednesday, July 12, and continue to meet every other Wednesday at 9pm EST, for 5 sessions. This group will be led by Leslie Knight. Leslie has a Master of Social Work degree and currently serves as the Director of Social Services for America World's Washington and Oregon offices. She has several years of experience working with state adoption and foster care services as well as serving as the director of a domestic adoption agency. As a personal foster parent graduate of the TBRI-based© HALO project, Leslie brings a unique and in-depth perspective to helping children and families. - The Adopted TWEEN Chat group (ages ~10 - ~13) will start Thursday, July 20, at 9pm EST (8 CST, 7 MTN, 6 PST), and each group will last about 1 hour. Registration and payment for the 1st session is due by 5pm July 19, but we strongly encourage you to reach out to us sooner so we have ample time to schedule the parent introductory call.
- The Adopted TEEN group (ages ~14+ ) will start once we have at least 3 interested teenagers, and the date and time will be determined then. Email us at ACT@awaa.org to get your name on the list!
- “Anchored in Hope” general support group for adoptive parents will start once we have at least 3 interested parents, and the date and time will be determined then. Email us at ACT@awaa.org to get your name on the list!
