National Council for Adoption Speaks Out on the Importance of Certificates of Citizenship
The National Council for Adoption (NCFA) is a great resource for adoptive families. You can find their website HERE, which includes this mission statement:
Passionately committed to the belief that every child deserves to thrive in a nurturing, permanent family, NCFA’s mission is to meet the diverse needs of children, birth parents, adopted individuals, adoptive families, and all those touched by adoption through global advocacy, education, research, legislative action, and collaboration.
NCFA publishes a regular blog about intercountry adoption issues, and they did a recent post entitled “The Importance of Obtaining Certificates of Citizenship.” Included are fact sheets and other helpful information, and America World is in agreement with their stance that the Certificate of Citizenship is the most permanent and definitive way to prove citizenship, and obtaining one for an internationally adopted child is the ethical responsibility of parents.
America World’s ACT program is pleased to give you an opportunity to learn more about this topic and more. Karen S. Law, PLC, adoption attorney, will address frequently asked questions regarding Citizenship and Re-adoption. This webinar will take place on September 28, 2017, at 1 pm EST, for the first 100 registrants who log on. Additional registrants will receive a recording of the webinar at a later date. If you are interested in receiving this information, REGISTER HERE. Feel free to email ACT@awaa.org if you have questions, or call 800-429-3369, ext 163 or 162.
