Oklahoma Adoption Coalition Conference

Many of the America-World Oklahoma staff attended the Oklahoma Adoption Coalition conference on Friday, March 7, which featured Dr. Barbara Sorrels presenting “The Impact of Trauma and Loss on Children's Growth and Development.” Dr. Sorrels describes herself as a mom, new grandmother, child development specialist, University Professor, Children's Pastor, teacher, and consultant. She is the founder of the Institute for Childhood Education, where they help parents, teachers, and child care facilities create nurturing environments.  She draws much of her material and practice from the teachings of adoption experts Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. Bryan Post.
