Note from CEO

Praise God!  Last week, America World staff was notified that we are now officially Hague Accredited!  We strongly believe that this will only further help families in their international adoptions due to this new cooperating agreement between countries.  It is with great joy and excitement that we at America World Adoption, look forwad to how this Accreditation will further help orphans around the globe.

Things never seem to slow down here!  It seems like we just celebrated New Year’s and now we are already find ourselves the first weeks of March.

In April, I’ll be traveling along with our Africa Program Director, Duni Zenaye, to Africa, where I’ll be meeting with our staff in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  I’m looking forward to seeing Girmachew Tadesse and Rachel Ward as well as meeting some of the newly hired staff in Addis.  I will also be traveling to Kigali, Rwanda for a brief trip to meet with government officials regarding adoption.  Since AWAA completed our first Rwandan adoption in November, we’re encouraged at the opportunity of developing this as another program offering adoption from the great continent of Africa!

In May, I’m attending the Christian Alliance for Orphans meeting in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  America World is a member of this organization and I’m privileged to serve on the Board of Directors of this organization.  During one of the break-out sessions, I will be presenting on how adoption agencies can partner together for the best interest of prospective adoptive parents and children still waiting for a family to call their own.

Depending on when meetings can be arranged, I will be traveling to El Salvador either shortly before or right after this conference to meet with our staff and continue to work with the Salvadorian adoption authorities to find solutions to the bottleneck in their adoption process.

I’ll continue to blog through this wonderful new avenue of communicating with families – hopefully you’ll have the opportunity to hear more about these trips and their outcomes.  Your prayers are always desired and appreciated as our agency continues to develop and refine programs.

Blessings,

Brian Luwis, CEO
