Note from CEO
This past week was the Angels in Adoption Gala, hosted by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI). America World was able to spend time with a delegation from El Salvador, including the Procurador and the Director of OPA. It was great to be able to spend so much time with these guests from El Salvador and to show them America World’s office.
On Monday, I returned from Minneapolis where I attended a Board Meeting for the Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO). America World Adoption is a founding member of CAFO and we’re proud of the work they’re doing to encourage the church to adopt. The CAFO Board of Directors consists of the Executive Directors of Bethany Christian Services, Shaohannah’s Hope, Orphan Outreach, the ABBA Fund and other church and ministry leaders.
Yesterday, I attended the National Council For Adoption (NCFA) annual conference. It was good to see a few familiar faces and to hear from an Ethiopian judge about his perspective on Ethiopian adoption. I’m proud of our agency’s work in Addis Ababa and of our development work throughout Ethiopia.
I want to reiterate to families that during this difficult financial time in international adoption, our agency has a strong foundation and we’re very committed to being around for as long as orphans are in need of families!
Finally, I wanted to take a moment to encourage families to take another look at the Waiting Children list. My wife and I had three girls in our home when we looked at a special needs list and realized God was calling us to adopt a son! He is an incredible source of joy, excitement and pride for Renee and me. For those families that have never given much consideration to a boy – please pray and seek God’s will to see if He might be calling you to a son!
