New China Orphanage Partner: Team in China
The latest Storyteller China Mission Team landed in Guangdong, China just days ago and have the unique opportunity to be the first Storyteller Team to visit our newest orphanage partner. They are already hard at work loving on kids and recording their stories, including children whose files will arrive at America World (AWAA) in the months upcoming.
Our China teams have the unique chance to meet children in the orphanages, learn about their personalities and observe them in their environments. This is of great value to advocates and potential adoptive parents! Additionally, they have the honor of bringing back updates, along with photos and videos, to our China staff to send to families who are still waiting to travel and meet their precious children.
Our current team is traveling with an occupational therapist and a nurse. Because of their expertise, children are receiving mobility and developmental assessments. The team is able to take this information and provide the China staff with practical advice to help the children thrive. Their work this week continued as the team mobilized themselves and were asked to help take the children to receive immunizations. Can you imagine taking MULTIPLE kids for shots? What a brave group of women. Here are a few comments the team has sent back thus far:
“I fell in love with the kids instantly. All the babies were so precious and holding them in my arms and seeing their face light up was my favorite thing. The older kids had so much fun with light up toys and bouncy balls and one older girl in particular was always giving out hugs. The last little boy I held I never wanted to let go and I'm so excited to return tomorrow!” – Anna
“To hear the squeals, giggles, and laughter of the children greet us was inspiring and inviting as we entered the orphanage in the morning, and when we returned after lunch. I was thankful that I was able to use my occupational therapy skills to help assess the children in order to tell their stories and find them forever families.” – Joanne
We are excited about this team and the stories they will bring back to share in the days and weeks ahead and wait with anticipation to hear what the rest of their trip will bring. Please be in prayer with us for this team as they serve this week in China.
