Loving Ambassador Child: Meet “Drew”
Drew is an 8-year old little boy with a big smile as evidenced in his photos. He currently attends school and loves to learn. He is often praised by his teacher for his good handwriting and he finishes his homework carefully. If he sees that he is not writing well, he will erase it and write it again. He likes to talk and can speak a lot and express his wants. He can often remember all of the things that his teacher taught. He enjoys books and is learning various jobs, how to tell stories, how to ride a bike and kick a ball, etiquette, how to greet people and how to manage his own things. He is able to have good self-care and can take his clothes and shoes on and off. He is able to go to the bathroom, brush his teeth, and wash his face independently as well as make his own bed. Drew has good physical balance and can walk in straight lines. He is able to jump 5 times continuously in the same place on one foot and hold the horizontal bar with both hands and hang his body for 20 seconds.
His friend was adopted last November and he was quite upset when his friend didn’t return to school. He hopes to have his own parents one day and says that he hopes his mom and dad will bring him home from China on a plane like they did his friend.
Drew was sent to a foster family at age 2 ½. He is well-liked by everyone who meets him. He loves to be outdoors in the sunshine. He also enjoys playing with toy cars and planes and on the slide. Drew has had surgery for spina bifida/tethered cord, anal atresia, and a pilonidal cyst.
A Loving Ambassador team visited Drew in September 2019 and described him as a sweet little boy with a playful personality and a shy smile. Though he was a bit timid at first, he really opened up once he got comfortable. He is currently in 1st grade and is a very well-behaved student, listening attentively to his teachers and getting along well with other students. He has a kind heart and was observed sharing his snack with a friend. He also loves to laugh and enjoyed making silly faces to the camera.
