Loving Ambassador Child: “Kylie”

Kylie is a sweet 9-year old little girl with a happy heart! She smiles often and loves to listen to music, dance, and sing. She will clap and stomp along to the beat of a song with a strong rhythm and likes to imitate people dancing in music videos. She is able to follow instructions, dress, tie her own shoelaces, and eat without assistance. Although she is a slow eater, she is not picky about the foods she eats. She loves to be around people and play with other kids. She has been attending school since she was 4½ years old and enjoys learning new things. Kylie has been diagnosed with Down syndrome and heart disease, but she is an active and extroverted child who continues to make progress in her development.

A Loving Ambassador team visited Kylie in September 2019 and described her personality as loveable, playful, curious, and joyful!  “She has a gentle spirit and radiates joy, bringing light into any room she walks into.”  Kylie is attending a special education class at the orphanage and is a very engaged and determined little girl.  Team members observed her completing an obstacle course by watching those ahead of her and then dancing to numerous dance routines that were performed at the welfare center.  She is content playing alone, but she was also observed playing duck-duck-goose and sharing toys with other children.  She also took immediately to the children who were part of the Loving Ambassador team.  She listens and follows directions well, lining up and cleaning up toys when asked.  Kylie loves to interact, and team members described that “she would take her hand and gently touch our faces to get us to look at her. She has learned to communicate her needs without speaking and just wanted to be held and hugged.”
