Legislation Introduced to Make Adoption Tax Credit Refundable
On May 23,
2013, Sens. Bob Casey (D-PA) and Mary Landrieu (D-LA) joined with Congressman
Bruce Braley (D-IA) to introduce the Adoption Tax Credit Refundability Act of
2013. This important piece of legislation would make the Adoption Tax Credit
refundable.
Earlier this
year, Congress voted to make the adoption tax credit permanent, but not
refundable, as part of a larger bill designed to avert the fiscal cliff. While
this vote was a step in the right direction, refundability is key to ensuring
that adoptive families have access to the resources they need to thrive.
Speaking of the bill, Senator Casey said, “The Adoption Tax Credit has be a
proven success in increasing families’ ability to offer permanent homes to
adoptive children. Making the credit refundable will allow more families to
experience its benefits.â€
As people
who are passionate about the ministry of adoption, it is up to us to make sure
our Representatives support this life-saving legislation. Will you take
action on behalf of orphaned and vulnerable children by contacting your member
of Congress to urge them to vote “YES†on the Adoption Tax Credit Refundability
Act of 2013?
