Last Chance to Register: “Growing Up Peaceful” Seminar

We are excited to announce a special opportunity for our Virginia and Maryland area families (and those nationwide if you want to travel!).

The Barnabas Center, a nonprofit, nondenominational, Christ-centered counseling, training and teaching ministry is offering a seminar entitledGrowing Up Peaceful: Holding, Helping and Empowering Your Anxious Child on Saturday, October 20th, 9:00 am – 12:30 pm at McLean Presbyterian Church.

This seminar will look at different ways kids express anxiety to their parents, and how parents’ reaction to their anxiety can be similar to how they handle their own fears.  The hope of this seminar is to wake us, as parents, to an awareness of how we deal with our own anxiety so that we can be intentional in helping shepherd our kids through theirs.

We will look at how to take anxious protests seriously, how to help ground a child who is overwhelmed, and how to help them “disobey” worrisome thinking. You will receive practical tools as well as spiritual encouragement to rest in what God is doing through your child’s struggle.

The speaker is Meredith Spatola, LPC, of the Barnabas Center in Charlotte, NC. Meredith is an engaging, informative speaker on the topic of anxiety. Please contact Margaret Whisler with any questions at Mwhisler@thebarnabascenter.org .

Please feel free to forward this information to others who might be interested. The fee is $50.00 and scholarships are available.
