Job Opening: Human Resources Director / Office Manager

America World Adoption Association, an evangelical Christian non-profit international adoption agency in McLean, Virginia, is seeking a Director of Human Resources and Office Manager. Responsibilities include:

  • oversight and implementation of personnel hiring/termination for corporate and affiliate offices
  • personnel record keeping
  • management of employee benefits
  • procurement/maintenance of liability insurances and workers’ compensation
  • oversight of Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) meetings, records, and reporting
  • ensuring agency compliance with state and federal employment laws; accrediting organization regulations pertaining to HR and PQI
  • coordination of new hire orientation training and monthly in-house staff training seminars
  • creation of policies pertaining to human resources, office management, PQI
  • employee advocacy; handling employee grievances and incidents
  • oversight of agency phone answering team and procedures
  • ordering office supplies and company letterhead
  • maintenance of office equipment (copiers, postage machine; coordinating with agency’s CIO to meet any staff IT needs)
  • interfacing with vendors/suppliers
  • maintaining a smoothly functioning office environment

The qualified candidate is a committed believer in Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible, possessing a bachelor’s degree, in addition to at least five years of work experience in human resources and office administration. A degree in human resources or HR certification are preferred, but not required. It is essential that the individual possess a high degree of professionalism, in addition to impeccable writing skills and well-developed organizational and multitasking skills.
