Introducing Rob Kinsey, Development Specialist
We are pleased to introduce you to Rob Kinsey, our new Development Specialist.
Rob has nearly 20 years of experience in fundraising, specializing in providing solutions that align donors’ philanthropic interests with their financial and estate planning needs. In addition, he has a passion for the work of America World, and he enjoys building relationships with donors.
If you’d like to know a little about him, check out the short Q&A session below.
How did you first learn about the important work of America World?
My wife was invited to go on a trip with America World to China in 2017. A turn of events changed their destination to Ethiopia. It was through this trip that we learned about America World. We have each made three trips to Ethiopia to visit and encourage the wonderful girls in the orphanages and Bete Hosanna. Our travels have allowed us to take each of our four daughters to Ethiopia and show them firsthand how we can be the hands and feet of Christ.
Tell us about your family.
My wife and I have four daughters, Cierra, Madisyn, Ellie, and Kassidy, and our adopted son, Brandon. We also have one son-in-law, Andrew, and one “on the way” with a wedding in June, where Colton will officially join the family.
What do you do with your free time?
I serve as an elder at our church and play drums in the worship ministries program. High school activities and wedding planning have been a big part of our last two years. The weddings have been a great reason to spend more time improving my woodworking skills for the sake of decorations. I also enjoy the outdoors any chance I get.
What have you been reading?
Praying the Bible by Donald Whitney was a recent read that impacted my prayer life. I highly recommend it for new Christians and those who have been walking with the Lord for a long time and feel their prayer time has grown stale. Next on my list is Beautiful Resistance by Jon Tyson.
What do you enjoy about working in nonprofit development?
I’ve worked for nonprofits my entire career. Building relationships and working with donors on behalf of organizations that truly change the world for the better is very rewarding. I get the most enjoyment in helping donors accomplish their goals by coaching them on ways to give that meet their financial planning, often expanding what they thought was possible by being wiser in how they give.
What are some verses that speak to you?
Romans 8:28 has been a lifelong encouragement to me and has provided great comfort in life’s harder questions. The book of James has continued to model who I should be as a follower of Christ.
We hope this information helps you to get to know Rob. He looks forward to getting to know you! You can reach him at rob.kinsey@awaa.org if you have any questions or just want to say hello.
