India Waiting Child: Meet “Janie”
Janie is an exceptionally adorable little girl with glasses, pigtails and a sweet smile. She is thought to be around 9 years of age and is described as funny and sassy!
In 2015 she was diagnosed with aqueductal stenosis resulting in hydrocephalus. She was in and out of the hospital early that year due to complications from surgery and ended up receiving a shunt. After surgery, she was no longer able to sit on her own but a more recent update notes that she is now able to sit independently. At the time of the updated information, she was receiving physical therapy 3 times a week.
Janie has good use of her hands and is able to feed herself. She is also working on handwriting and attends an on-site school where she is learning English. Janie likes to look at books and she especially loves playing with baby dolls and blocks.
Janie is a friendly child who greets visitors with a big smile and welcomes them over to say hello. She is bonded to her primary caregiver and gets along well with the other children. She loves to hold babies and play with other kids her age.
We would love for you to join us in advocating for Janie and praying for her! This is a shared referral. If you would like to learn more, please contact India@awaa.org.
