“Clara” is a sweet baby girl with round cheeks, big eyes and wispy brown hair. She is described as happy and only cries when she’s hungry or tired. Her nannies note how she has a friendly babble. Born premature, “Clara” has slight developmental delays, suffers from reflux and has profound bilateral hearing loss.
There are many children like “Clara” who have varying degrees of deafness who are waiting for families. Children can learn sign language from a very young age to communicate their needs. There are also many medical procedures, schools and services available in the United States for individuals with hearing challenges.
