India Waiting Child: “Charles” Needs a Family

“Charles” is an adorable 2 ½ year old boy with round cheeks, big brown eyes and dark hair. He is described as happy and active. He engages well with his care takers and plays well with other children. He is developing normally but carries the sickle cell trait.

With sickle cell trait, a child receives the sickle cell gene mutation from only one parent. In this case, the child doesn't get the disease, but can pass the defective gene on to any future children.
