India Program Updates

CARA, the government department that oversees adoptions in India, has reopened to new applications. One of the changes in the processing system includes a new worldwide monthly quota for applications from prospective parents. America World has recently successfully registered several families in this new system. CARA is still working through new procedures for centralizing the adoption and referral processes, therefore the wait time for a referral is unknown. Families are encouraged to contact AW staff with their questions regarding the India program.
