Black Friday. It’s a day when many of us will fight huge crowds at the shopping malls in search of deals on Christmas gifts for our loved ones. Personally, I avoid the malls on Black Friday. I blame the years I spent working retail (you never want to see a J. Crew after closing time on Black Friday).
As much as I love shopping for gifts for my friends and family, though, I always feel a burden for children who will be spending another Christmas waiting for a family. This year, America World is joining the #GivingTuesday movement to help provide for the needs of children who are still living in orphanages throughout the world. #GivingTuesday is a movement designed to kick off the holiday season with a full day devoted to giving to causes that help those in need. This year, #GivingTuesday is on December 3, 2013.
America World has created a page through our friends at Razoo to help raise $10,000 that will go directly toward meeting the basic needs of orphans. 100% of all donations received will be directed to our Isaiah 1:17 Fund, which helps provide basic life necessities for children living in orphanages, like:
- Therapeutic food to treat malnutrition
- Baby formula
- Educational expenses
- Blankets, clothes, and diapers
Will you join us in meeting the needs of children still waiting for their forever family? You can donate by clicking HERE.
Here’s a little secret – you don’t have to wait until December 3 to give. Our campaign starts today and goes until the end of 2013. Once you’ve donated, you can encourage others to give by linking to our page through Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #GivingTuesday.
Thank you for your heart for God’s children and for joining us in this excited effort.
