Give Me Your Eyes

During the election our eyes have been so focused on our nation.  Especially last night and today.  As I was driving down the road today I heard the song called, “Give Me Your Eyes” by Brandon Heath.  The chorus goes like this:

Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken-hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see

I met Brandon once here in Nashville before this song came out.  He told me all about an orphanage in India and how he'd visited there many times.  He even gave me contact information to this orphanage in the hopes that we could help.  What a heart!  This rememberance brought me back the realization that the world is much bigger than America and that God is much bigger than this presidental race and nomination.  There are over 143 million orphans in this world.  There are more important issues at hand.
For me, that issue is the orphan crisis and how I can help one more orphan receive the love and home he or she was destined to have.   I was glad to regain my focus and my eternal perspective again.  To put my trust in God and not in man and to ask Him again, “Give me your eyes Lord.  Help me to see what You see.”  My prayer today is, “Lord, give Your eyes to the new President.  May He see what You see.  May He see the lives of orphans and see the crisis for what it is and may He make a difference in their lives.  Give him Your love and compassion for the least of these and last but not least, please give him a Spirit of and for adoption for which we all cry out, “Abba Father!”.”  Amen.
