Family Resources: Indoor Activities
Elizabeth Gray, Director of Social Services for America World Texas and Tennessee, took the time to compile a few cool resources to support you as a family during this time of extra togetherness. Watch for more to come as our staff creates and gathers ideas and activities to inspire and support you as you care for your family.
Move Your Body deck of cards is a really fun game! It can be played indoors AND outdoors and gets kids moving and energy out. Parents, you don’t have to buy the game if you prefer, you can instead create your own cards or draw the picture on paper and let the kids pick from the stack. I did this with staff childcare group several years ago and it was a big hit and the kids were engaged through the stack of cards. Click here to pick up the cards on amazon if you want the official game.
Kids can also watch and complete yoga during the day using Cosmic Kid Yoga Adventure. The videos are on YouTube and free! Free resources during this time are just that much sweeter! Click here to access.
Stretching is another stress relieving and empowering activity. Here are a few guided stretches from Seattle Children’s Hospital. Taking regular breaks to stretch and refocus can be great for mental and physical health.
