Families Needed!
From January to June of 2009, America World has been blessed to assist over 90 families accept referrals from the Waiting Children (WC) Program. The CCAA has consistently referred many children each month through the WC program, including boys and girls ranging in age from 8 months – 13 years.
Potential for Short Wait Times for Referral
It is possible to receive a referral call the day you join the WC program! For families with dossiers in China open to a female or male child with an unrepaired condition, boys of any age, or a child over the age of 4 years, there can be little to no wait time for a referral call. For families open to a female child, age 0-2 years of age with a repaired or minor condition, the wait time can be anywhere from a few months to 2 ½ years, although the exact wait is unknown.
Any China Program Family is Invited to Apply
Currently we are in need of families who are interested in considering the adoption of a waiting child. To consider a referral, current China program families can apply to the WC program and then be considered to be matched directly with a referral that meets the description of what the family is open to adopting. To view the application families can follow this link: http://www.awaa.org/waitingchildren/china/application.aspx.
Types of Special Needs
There are many different types of special needs that are seen in the program, such as cleft lip and palate, heart conditions, Hepatitis B, limb differences, vision and hearing impairments, and developmental delays. There are also healthy older children, typically over the age of 10 years.
Conference Call Opportunity: Families Sharing Testimonies
On Wednesday June 24th at 3:00pm EST families who have adopted through the WC program will share their adoption story and testimony. To register for the call and to submit questions you would like to have answered during the call, please email waitingchildren@awaa.org.
