Ethiopia: Storyteller Missions Team Update – Day 1
Today was our first full day in Ethiopia and we started it with am amazing service at Beza International Ministries. The word Beza means “redemptionâ€. Redemption most accurately captures God’s plan and His heart for us. We were told before that church services lasted for about three hours, and some of us had concerns about being able to sit still that long. Well, we can tell you that time just flew by and with us up on our feet singing with our hands raised!
You could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit flowing in that room. The pastor spoke on how your mind can be your bondage or your deliverance. He shared Luke 24:45, “Then He opened their minds so they could understand the scriptures.†He continued to speak that once our minds are opened to God’s truth our lives will be transformed. The service was finished with with an alter call of prayer and the song, â€Break Every Chainâ€.
After church we had lunch at Khaldi’s were we munched on cheeseburgers and sipped on delicious macchiatos. We definitely agree that Ethiopian coffee is the best.
We finally spent our afternoon at a transition home. Most of the children have been matched or will be soon matched to their forever families. And they will stay there until their adoptions are finalized. We met some beautiful children who are loved and deeply cared for by their nannies.
The attention the children receive is so heart warming and you can see the positive effect it has on them. We also had the privilege to met families that were sponsored by America World at the transition home. They share their stories with us on how sponsors have made a difference in their lives. We were touched and encouraged as we saw their strength in the middle of uncertain circumstances.
