“Day of Hope”: A Week Later
Last Wednesday America World did something that was a bit different than it had ever done before…Day of Hope. The challenge was to meet the needs of three very important initiatives without passing on the financial burden to adopting families. As adoption expenses continue to climb, we wanted to keep these initiatives from adding to a family's adoption expenses. The initiatives were:
- Rent for our Ethiopia transitional homes of $74,600
- The China Welcoming Angels hosting program in March of $4,000 per child
- Hallie's Hope Fund which helps to provide critical care & support to children and families experiencing difficulties following their return home
The goal was to fully fund each of the three initiatives, which required $120,000. At the end of the day America World families and friends raised $40,917! An anonymous donor graciously offered to match all donations up to $60,000, which meant that $81,834 was raised in a single day to help meet our goal! The Day of Hope campaign continues through December 31, 2014.
Since last Wednesday, donations have continued to come in. As of this morning you have raised $56,817 and with the match our new total is $113,634! We are only $6366 from funding all three initiatives!
We would ask that you continue to share this important campaign with your family and friends. Note that America World is now able to accept stocks and securities in addition to monetary donations. Also, remember that many employers offer a company matching gifts for non-profit initiatives. Donations can be made HERE using General Donation from the drop-down, and noting Day of Hope in the Comments section.
Please pray that we will meet, and even exceed, our goal. And thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus to orphans who will experience life change as a result.
