Day of Hope 2015: “Do For One…”

The staff here at America World are gearing up for the 2nd Annual Day of Hope Phone-a-Thon to be held on Wednesday, December 9th, 2015.  This year, we are challenging families, individuals and businesses, to “do for one what you wish you could do for everyone.† By providing for the needs of one child, you can have a significant effect on the lives of many.  On December 9th, America World will close our corporate office to allow our staff time to connect with post adoption and current families to communicate 4 specific opportunities to contribute financially to meet the needs of vulnerable children, regardless of whether or not they are adoptable.  Our goal is to raise $250,000 to support vulnerable children during this year-end giving campaign.

Here are FOUR IMPORTANT ways to give this year!

 

1) Family Preservation– Our Ethiopia program commits each year to support approximately 120 vulnerable children in Addis Ababa that are currently living with their birth families.  Our goal is to reduce the risk of these vulnerable children becoming orphans and experiencing the devastating effects of being removed from or abandoned by their birth families.  For only $420 a year, or $35 a month, we are able to provide for one child’s basic needs to alleviate the burden on the birth family.  Will you come alongside of us and help provide the financial needs for one of these children in an effort to keep the birth family together.

 

2) Orphaned Children in China– America World adoption currently works with 12 orphanages in China; 2 orphanages in the Guangdong Province, 2 orphanages in the Gansu Province, 3 orphanages in the Guizhou Province and 5 orphanages in the Shaanxi Province.  America World commits annually to provide financial support to supplement the financial needs of these orphanages to provide for the basic needs of the children in their care. Many of the children living in these orphanages have medical needs as well which increases the amount of financial support they need.  While America World’s mission is to place children in Christian homes according to God’s design of adoption, we also feel called to care for the children that may or may not be adoptable.   We are looking for families, businesses, churches and individuals to come alongside of America World to help provide for the basic needs of one of the children living in our partner orphanages.  Will you please consider a financial commitment to provide support to one of these children?

 

3) Orphaned Children in Ethiopia â€“ This past year, America World partnered with 5 orphanages throughout Ethiopia, both in Addis Ababa and in other provinces.  We also work with government orphanages in Addis Ababa to supplement the financial needs to support the children in their care.  As many of you know, America World also runs a transition home in Ethiopia for both adoptable children and vulnerable children that may or may not find a forever family.  The costs to care for children in our transition home are great. Would you consider making a donation to America World to cover the cost to care for one of these children for a month or a year?

 

4) Post Adoption Support â€“ orphaned children do not only need support while they live in their home country waiting for their forever family. Support is often needed long after the child is adopted and brought into their forever family.   Many families face real challenges after they return home with their adopted children, even after significant amount of time has passed and everyone has settled into their new environment.  For those of you with a heart for supporting families that respond to the call to adopt, we ask that you consider making a financial contribution to America World’s Hallie’s Hope Fund. This fund was created by an America World adoptive family to help provide critical care and support for children and families experiencing difficulties following their return home. Through this fund, America World works to help strengthen families and ensures the long-term success of adoptive placements.
