Created for Care Conference
Today we have a guest post from adoptive mom Katie Seevers, with a report on the Created for Care retreat.
This past weekend, I joined 449
other adoptive moms for a 3 day getaway. Amongst us, there were 557 children
already home through adoption, as well as 241 children ready to be joined
with their forever families. The total number of children home through adoption,
as well as bio kids was 1,222! This weekend was filled with great fellowship,
worship, breakout sessions, shopping and all around refreshment and renewal for
my spirit. We went to the Created for Care conference, a twice a year retreat
that takes place at The Legacy Lodge at Lake Lanier in Buford,
Georgia (just north of Atlanta). The location was beautiful, providing a
wonderful space to reflect and renew. It made for a great environment for
talks with new and old friends alike.
The retreat is described best
on their website as: “Christian families all over the world are
being called to grow their families through adoption and foster care.
Throughout the journey, different needs arise–some times, we just don’t know
where to start–and other times we are just tired from all that is required in
these callings filled with new approaches, lots of healing and much required
extra love. While your hearts have been called to care, YOU were also created
to be cared FOR. We want to not only support these families by equipping them
with adoption resources, but most importantly provide resources to encourage
them in their walks with their Heavenly Father who led them to this amazing
calling”.
It was great fun meeting so
many AWAA mommas all together in one space. So many I've known on facebook, but what
a blessing to chat in person and hug so many of their necks for the first time.
There were more than 30 AWAA moms present at this March retreat.
If you're needing to be
encouraged, refreshed and renewed consider going to the retreat next year.
Check out their website for more details on their January or March
retreat.
