Christmastime at America World
Christmas at our office is always a joyful time. When December comes around, we decorate the office with a tree, wreaths on the doors, and garlands in the hallways. It is a wonderful time of the year and there are sure to be sweet treats on the kitchen table baked by staff.
During our morning prayer meetings, we remember that holidays can be especially hard for waiting families. We lift you up in prayer, knowing that God cares for our every need and knows the longing of a parent wishing to hold their child.
We have a few holiday traditions: one is baking cookies and taking them to our neighboring offices as well as the volunteer fire station across the street. Last week, we had a potluck lunch and an always-entertaining white elephant gift exchange. We also have an annual Christmas party where we enjoy great food and conversation with our coworkers' families. During this party, awards are handed out to staff, recognizing their achievements over the year. We also hand out fun superlatives, such as “most soothing telephone voice!”
As we reflect on Christ's birth, it is amazing to think that Jesus himself was adopted by his father, Joseph, whose lineage was grafted into his history and planned far ahead of time by his heavenly Father. Jesus' birth, life, death, and resurrection paved the way for all of us to be adopted into the family of God. 2 Corinthians 9:15 sums it up- “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”
From the America World family to your family, we send you warm Christmas greetings and joy for the New Year.
