China Waiting Child: Meet “Tara”
Tara is a sweet 12 ½-year-old girl who entered a simulated foster family program under Half the Sky Foundation (now currently renamed OneSky) in 2011. She is tutored by a special teacher and works on her homework, but prefers Chinese and English to her math studies.
She has learned how to have self-care ability and staff have worked with her to help her increase her self-confidence. She has been taught how to be kind-hearted and has excellent character.
Tara is quiet and shy and considered introverted by staff, but gets along with other children, but often likes to watch them play. She will ask questions when she is interested in things, but sometimes she just likes to be quiet. She will listen to staff speak and will wait a while to respond and can express responses clearly. She has stated to staff that she envies children who go abroad to have a new family and is eager to have a family of her own.
“I am 11 years old, study in #31 elementary school, third grade. I like drawing and like to help aunts to do housework.”
She is confident at drawing and likes to draw and will also participate in the children’s performance or games. She is not a picky eater and eats well. She learns well the things that she can experience and do repeatedly as well as things accumulated through life experience. She can recite things after she has read or repeated them several times.
Her file notes that she has had malnutrition and delayed mental development. She is noted to be taller than her peers and has suffered from asthma since she has been young and has been on nebulizer treatments.
Tara is looking for her forever family to help her reach her fullest potential. Please take a few minutes to consider how God would have you be a part of helping this precious child, whether that is through praying, advocating, or inquiring to learn more.
