China Waiting Child: Meet 9-Year-Old, Matt
Meet today’s China Waiting child, Matt. He is a smart and delightful little boy as noted in his file. Like all boys, he is active and loves to play with his friends. His file states that he is positive and has a good memory.
He is in school Monday through Saturday and can remember the children’s songs and Tang poems taught by the teacher. He can recite the poems and songs for other classmates in his class. In school, he is able to write simple characters, numbers, Pinyin, and letters.
Matt likes drawing and enjoys playing games with friends. The orphanage staff shared that he gets along well with others when playing. He likes to eat meat and seafood, vegetables, as well as bread, cake, and fruits.
He has good fine and gross motor skills as evidenced in his paperwork. Like many children his age, he enjoys music, reading books, enjoys playing games and playing ball. He has age appropriate self-care as well.
Matt just turned 9 years old and has been diagnosed with bilateral basal ganglia softening.
Matt’s file is from one of our orphanage partners and is listed as “special focus.” Please contact our China team to learn more about adopting Matt at China@awaa.org or call them at 800-429-3369.
