China Adoption: Family Needed for “Eli”

Eli is an almost 12-year-old boy who is strong and determined! He likes to listen to music and nod along to the rhythm.

Eli has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Over the course of his young life, he has developed greatly, especially under the therapist’s training. By the age of 4.5, he could sit steadily, keep balance and turn his body freely, and stand for a short time with help.

At almost 12 years old now, he has made great progress and can now dress himself, slowly groom and feed himself, and has a good relationship with his teachers and caretakers. He reminds them to take their medicine and asks if they are feeling okay if any are absent for a day. He helps them with folding towels and other chores. He can stand up and walk for a while using a handrail. He typically navigates using a wheelchair, which he climbs in and out of and uses independently. His caretakers have noted that his progress in walking is due to his persistence, as he never gives up when struggling!

He can paint and write characters independently with his left hand but struggles with fine motor skills in his right. He adapts well to new environments and asks for help when he needs it. Eli is a performer. He is not timid, sitting confidently with a ready plan to shine in front of his classmates and teachers.

Eli is a sweetheart and enjoys helping care for the other children in the orphanage. He laughs loudly and cheerfully with the other children. When others cry, he will stroke their faces to gently comfort them. Eli is described as sensitive and hardworking.
