10-Year-Old, “Chip”: Will Thrive in a Loving Family
Chip is an extraverted, active 10-year old little boy who loves to make new friends and is always curious about new things. Though noted to have some developmental/speech delays, he is a healthy child who is eager to learn new things in his class and will keep working at something with his teacher until he understands. He can sing simple children’s songs, complete paintings, recognize various animals, and repeat simple stories. He is currently in speech therapy to help with pronunciation.
Chip was part of our October 2016 Hope Journey project where a team from the US met and spent time with him. Chip’s medical file diagnosed him with a kidney issue (Nephrotic syndrome) and an intelligence developmental delay. The team who spent time with him said he does appear to be a bit delayed compared to his peers, but he works very hard to learn new things. The team member who spent a lot of time with Chip wrote this about him:
Chip is a delightful boy who is sure to make you smile. He loves to perform and is not shy in front of crowds. He is very close to his nanny and calls her his “darling.” He has strong gross motor skills and loves to run and jump and play outside. He is very active and activities requiring more focus can be a challenge for him. His nannies tell us that he loves to draw and put together puzzles and is very nurturing to the younger children. His nannies also report that although at some point in his life he had some medical issues with his kidneys, that he was treated and is healthy now.
After our field trip to the store, the nannies treated the children to pizza. I was able to sit with Chip during lunch. This was a precious time interacting with him. He was very well behaved, listening to his nannies and following their instructions. He was able to feed himself with a fork and was a delightful lunch partner. He enjoyed sitting close to me and gave me lots of hugs and snuggles. He won my heart that day! Chip is such an outgoing, precious boy and would be a joy to any family!
A Loving Ambassador Team just spent some time with Chip in November 2019, and they observed that he adapts to new environments well and works hard to be successful, memorizing long poems, songs, and the entire multiplication chart. He has a smile that lights up the room and would so benefit from a loving family to provide for him the therapy, care, and stability he needs!
Please take a few minutes to consider how God would have you be a part of helping this precious child, whether that is through praying, advocating, or inquiring to learn more.
