China Program: Skip the Long Wait

ChinachopAn announcement was recently released from the CCCWA stating that they would like to match families IMMEDIATELY with HEALTHY older children over six years old (up to age thirteen). Families can skip the long traditional healthy track wait time for a child referral if they are open to a child over the age of six and if they meet certain requirements. Families must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a dossier logged in already at the CCCWA
  • Cannot currently have a referral match
  • Should have an updated USCIS form**

**If your family is interested in this opportunity, but you do not have a current USCIS form that is valid, please contact our China team and we will discuss your case.

Contacting Social Worker

Families interested in this opportunity should also discuss with their social worker their desire to adopt an older child. Families will need to be approved by a social worker for a child over the age of 6 years. A family’s USCIS form will be required to reflect this approval as well.

Urgent Deadline- Friday, June 27

We must provide the CCCWA a list of all families interested by the end of this week. The CCCWA will then work in the weeks to come to match families with a healthy older child according to each family’s specific gender and age request. Though the CCCWA noted in their announcement that families will be matched immediately, we would like to note that because it is unknown at this time how many families will request the same age range or how many families will enter this special program from other agencies, agencies cannot confirm exact wait times or when a child will be eligible that meets a family’s age request.

If your family has a logged in dossier and and you are interested in pursuing this unique opportunity, please contact our China program staff before or by 12 pm EST on Friday, June 27, 2014 for additional detailed information and instructions. As always, we are here to discuss how to help your family move forward quickly and be matched with a HEALTHY child over six years old.  Please note that due to limited information being provided by the Center, we will do our best to respond to questions based on the information being given at this time. Please contact your Family Coordinator with any questions or email waitingchildren@awaa.org. As always, we are here to assist and guide you through your adoption process and answer any questions that you may have.
