CEO Updates
It has been a great week here in the office. At the end of last week, I went up to New York City to attend a conference on international adoption at NYU. The conference was great and I was able to meet together with other agencies, with the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute and with the woman who runs Harvard’s Child Advocacy Program. The conference focused on a number of the different hold-ups in various international adoption program countries. We also spent a lot of time focusing on the “current landscape†of international adoption.
I am traveling back to El Salvador and Honduras in a week and am looking forward to productive meetings in both countries. I am still seeing progress with the NGOs we’re partnering with in both countries and am pleased by the results-oriented staff at these NGOs.
Our in-country Rwanda coordinator was here for a few days and our staff spent some time with her allowing her to get a good picture of the paperwork process families go through before they go to Rwanda and she spent time meeting with our travel department to help coordinate future travel/trips. We are really grateful to the first three families that have gone through this program – they’ve helped us learn a lot and paved the way for future families.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! My verse for this weekend is Amos 5:24, “…let justice flow like a river and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.†May that be true for all the orphans waiting for families.
